Matt Dunn
Matt Dunn has built a distinguished career at the intersection of sports, tourism, and community development. His journey into the business of sport began in a uniquely rewarding way—supporting the British Olympic Camp in his home state of Florida, where he helped United Kingdom athletes acclimate to the rigors of the southeastern U.S. climate ahead of the Atlanta Olympic Games.
From that formative experience, Matt moved into increasingly influential roles with the Gainesville Sports Commission, the US Pro Cycling Tour, ESPN’s X Games and Great Outdoor Games, and global activations for Red Bull. He also held management positions with both the Capital One and Champs Sports collegiate bowl games, deepening his expertise in large-scale sports events and destination engagement.
Matt’s impact extends beyond event execution. He was appointed to leadership roles on the Board of Trustees for the Gainesville Sports Commission, Destinations Florida, and Sports ETA. From 2008 to 2019, he served as Executive Director for two Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs) in Florida, where he honed his strategic approach to increasing tourism traffic, building brand relevance, and driving economic impact.
In 2019, Matt launched Raconteurs, a marketing and consulting agency, and became publisher of PUSH Magazine. He also co-founded Salty Sports Society, an event production company, and Sunshine Sports Council, further cementing his commitment to elevating sports tourism across the region.
Known for developing tools and tactics that generate revenue and boost destination visibility, Matt is a trusted voice in sales and marketing strategy, relevance testing, and the design of business solutions for small to mid-market DMOs, CVBs, and Sports Commissions.
A lifelong advocate for inclusive and experience-driven sports initiatives, Matt’s career reflects a deep dedication to the transformative power of sport — rooted in his early love for swimming and expanded through decades of strategic leadership across the sports tourism landscape.
